It was a beautiful October day. The sun was dimly shining through the cloud sprinkled sky, and a crisp Autumn breeze blew through the brown and red leaves. Since it was the morning of Halloween, many houses on the street were decorated with cheesy ghosts, zombies, skeletons, and other creatures of the like. Fake cobwebs and spiders hung from almost every bush and tree, and there was the occasional motion activated prop on the lawn or by the door. A very few houses even went so far as to put creepy stickers on their windows. Most of the stickers had either blood stained handprints, shadows of people pressed up against the glass, words like ‘help’ written in supposed blood, and even a couple of them had all three together.

The majority of people who celebrate Halloween are kids that are desperate for candy or parents of said kids who were playing along, maybe even a nice elderly couple or two who liked to give out candy. There is a smaller percentage of the Halloween celebrating population, however, that are completely insane for the holiday. These people will go full out on everything. Decorations, costumes, makeup, you name it. Most neighborhoods only have one, maybe two, people of this sort. Luckily for this one, the job was taken up by (Y/N) (L/N).

(Y/N), for eleven months of the year, is a kind, sweet, soft-spoken girl, but the second the calendar changes to October 1st, it’s almost as if a flip is switched. She transforms into someone who listens to The Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack, especially the version with Marilyn Manson and Amy Lee covering the songs, every chance she gets. Someone who watches horror movies like Silence of the Lambs or In The Mouth of Madness to help her fall asleep. Someone who a stranger might think has a body hidden somewhere in the house. And she loves every second of it. In her mind, it’s the only time of year where she can be herself.

For anybody who is new to the neighborhood, they will most likely come to know her as the quiet, charming young woman that she usually is. This is why most new comers are warned to stay away from (Y/N) by anyone who has known her for more than a year once it becomes ‘Halloween Season’. If they do not, they are probably going to be shocked, and not in the good way, by how different she actually is.

It was because of this that (Y/N) spent her Halloween away from her neighbors and in her home. It didn’t bother her, though. It only meant that she had more time to binge watch her favorite horror-based TV shows, mainly Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Supernatural, and the previously mentioned movies. To (Y/N), Halloween was her time to shine.

“This is Halloween, this is Halloween. Pumpkins scream in the dead of night…” (Y/N) sung quietly to herself as she put up the final touches to the decorations inside the house. She sighed and took a step back, examining her work. Nodding in content, she smiled and said, “Perfect. Now, all I need is to show it to someone.”

(Y/N) quickly ran through a list in her mind of who she could invite over. The neighbors were out, no doubt about it, she couldn’t invite anybody from work, that would be weird, and she didn’t have any friends that she could call, mainly due to her social awkwardness. Then, it clicked. They had known each other for three years and been going out for one, but she wasn’t sure if she wanted him to see her like this. It wasn’t like he wouldn’t love every bit of it, that’s for sure, the only problem was that every year she had made some excuse not to see him anytime leading up to Halloween, and she would like to avoid him knowing exactly why that was.

“Well, now, what do we have here?”

Speak of the devil.

(Y/N) turned around and put on a big grin. “Pitch! What are you doing here?” she asked cheerfully while silently dying inside.

Pitch gave a deep chuckle. “I simply came over to see you, darling,” he studied the room. “Did you put these up?”

(Y/N) nodded nervously. “Yeah…” she trailed off, not sure as of what else to say.

“I didn’t know you celebrated Halloween. That is unless you have a roommate that I haven’t heard about?” he looked at her questioningly.

The game is up.

“No, there’s no roommate.” she groaned internally, dreading the thing that was coming up next.

“So,” Pitch laughed, “you put these up?”

When (Y/N) nodded, he looked genuinely surprised.

“Yep. I mean, I know they’re not much, but I wanted to at least try and make my house look something like a typical Halloween,” when he didn’t say anything, (Y/N) breathed deeply and continued, “Okay, truth is, it’s my favorite holiday. I love everything about it. The costumes, the decorations, the candy, but most of all, the movies.”

Pitch looked at her incredulously. “Movies?”

(Y/N) rubbed the back of her neck. “Especially the movies. Horror is kinda, like, my thing. The whole neighborhood even knows to stay away from me in October. Some of the little kids are a bit scared of me, I think.”

“Why on earth didn’t you tell me about all this?” he smiled deviously and took a step towards her.

She shrugged. “Dunno. Guess I just wasn’t quite sure how you’d react.”

Before she could get another word in, his arm was around her waist and he had pulled her into a deep kiss.

“And,” he started, pulling away and staring into her eyes, “how exactly did you think I was going to react?” Pitch smirked.

“Oh, screw you,” (Y/N) giggled and kissed him again.

While both their attentions were averted, neither of them noticed the people who had managed to sneak into the room.

“Well, well, well. What’s all this?” Jack asked.

(Y/N) wanted to die. “Hello, Jack,” she pulled back from Pitch and glanced around the room, “and, others…”

“Yeah, hi. What the bloody hell are all these?” Bunny said in surprise, pointing at the cheesy/spooky Halloween themed room.

“Umm… None of your business...?” (Y/N) said unsure of herself.

“Ha, ‘cause, you see, they look like all-hallows-eve decorations to me,” Bunny spoke with a know-it-all sorta tone.

When no one said otherwise, he laughed out loud and said, “Well, that does explain the previously unexplainable attraction to Pitch.”

North and Tooth laughed softly while Sandy just nodded slightly.

“Actually,” (Y/N) stated matter-of-factly, “this has nothing to do with Pitch,” she looked pissed. “It just so happens that Halloween is my favorite holiday, way above Christmas or Easter.” now it was her turn to smirk.

North put a hand over his heart, “Ah! You hurt! Why would you say something such as that, (Y/N)?” he looked at her carefully.

“‘Cause it’s true,” she smiled a sickeningly cheerful smile.

“Rude…” Bunny mumbled.

Tooth flew forward. “I think it’s good for her to have her own opinions,” she piped in.

Just as the arguing started, (Y/N) felt a hand on her shoulder and suddenly she was in Pitch’s lair.

(Y/N) giggled softly. “Did you do your magic poofy shadow thing?” she asked her boyfriend.

“I wish you wouldn’t call it that,” he grumbled.

“Aw, shut up, you know you love it!” she laughed, punching him softly in the arm.

He gave her a look that said ‘that hurt you know’, but soon subsided into a smile. “But you know what I love more? You.”

“Oh. My. God. Did the boogeyman just get cheesy?” this was too much for her. (Y/N) collapsed on the floor into a hysterical mess.

While she rolled around on the floor, Pitch rolled his eyes. “You don’t have to make such a big deal out of it, you know.”

“Sorry, sweety,” (Y/N) got up, still chuckling quietly. She placed a quick kiss on his lips. “Happy Halloween.”

“Happy Halloween, darling.”
It's a miracle! I posted something! Haha, sorry guys. I know this isn't very good, but I thought it'd be better to post this than nothing. Since Halloween is tomorrow, I felt like writing a themed fic! And who else better to write it about then the boogeyman himself(I totally didn't just want an excuse to write for this amazing character again)? Anyways, comment what you thought! Thanks for reading.

Aw... how sweet. I kinda' like it. Nice, a little cheesy, but nice.
